Dismiss these people, its a JOB do not involve emotions. Conduct yourself like a robotic professional. My favorite saying is "whatever," to the nasty doctors I work for in surgery. I leave and never take the job home with me. It's a job not my life. Finally, be a pro and act like one, cream rises to the top!

I once worked for a major university in our area. Politics and competition was a part of every day life, one that I had no interest in playing.
I did however love my job, so I learned how to survive. I did not have ambitions that demanded my stomping on people on my way to the top, so if that is where you are, consider doing the following.
1. Be friendly to all, but not bf with anyone.
2. Do not repeat any personal data concerning any of your co-workers.
3. Do not complain about work for any reason. Don't say anything that could be stretched to mean anything else...because it will be.
4. Do your work, do it on time, and be willing to help out with someone else's, when needed.
5. Do not talk on your cell phone when you are on the clock.
There are many more do and don't...the main way you will survive is to be a NON THREAT. If your co-workers do not feel threatened, they will most likely leave you alone.
If you want to advance, keep your nose to the grind, do more than is expected of you, and show your supervisors that you are a team player.
