  1. Bond says:

    Radar Speed Guns.
The radar gun measures the ball’s instantaneous speed right at the start

  2. Mary says:

Using ultrasonics, the speed of sound is about 1100 feet per second or sound travels about 1 foot each .001 second. So it with high speed processing in the microsecond range, the speed can be measured in maybe .001 second or less, the time the ball can travel in 1 ft..
Radar, traveling at the speed of light will measure speed in about a nanosecond which is much, much faster.

  3. Dan B says:

It’s the same technology used by the cops to measure speed of cars. It just measures the locates of the ball at a particular moment and after a fraction of a second, it sees to where the ball has reached. After that the machine simply uses the formula distance = speed multiplied by time.

  4. Alex M says:

A RADAR speed gun is used & gives an immediate response.

  5. They are called Radar Speed Guns.
