    Shri Kamal Nath, Union Minister of State for Environment and Forests between 1991 to 1995 worked a lot for environmental issues during his tenure, although ironically he was penalised by the Supreme Court for building a motel on the banks of the Beas river, thereby upsetting the fragile environmental balance.
    Mr. N. N. Meena (from May, 2004) and Mr. S. Regupathy (from May, 2007) have served as Union Ministers of State for Environment and Forests in the present government.

    I dont think that any Indian politician is giving importance to this issue as much as it needs.
