Now a days it is very difficult to get reservations in all the toy trains in India thanks to awarness by Tourism Industries and Indian Railway .
Last Year I wanted to catch Darjeeling toy train from New Jalpaiguri Station but could not get reservation for 6 days and ultimately we had to move by car only

What do u mean by it is booked – if you get RAC also you take it cause you will get reservation. What is the waiting list number – if it is 1-20 i think you could still take the chance cause you have 2 months or so.
If nothing works – then go for tatkal booking – which is done 5 days prior to the journey – find out more abt ‘tatkal booking’ on web.
