Why Are Indians So Crazy About Cricket?

November 28th, 2009 by i may help | Filed under Cricket.

the english invented the game, but they are not as crazy and mad as we indians are. why is that? go to england, and everyone talks about football. go to australia, they play only in summer. my opinion is that cricket is a summer game to be played to enjoy in the field. but, indians destroyed its true nature. we take it as our life, we act so dumb. why is that. football rules.

we like this game…..doesn’t matter who invented it… your question has no sense….sorry for saying that…it’s just a matter of choice…like America likes baseball..Brazil likes football…if Brazil win a match in world cup…Brazilians just become happy as if…its a festival…but if they lose…the smile just goes away from everyone’s lips…what would you say now..they are crazy?? it’s just they like this game very much….everyone has hobbies in his life…such as….i like to listen music before i sleep….or i like to play video games…but no one can say….why like video games while i have not invented it??…
hope you got it….buddy..and sorry for saying..your question have no sense…

Keeping patriotism aside, people should see and play cricket in the spirit of the game. Whatever the results are, people should accept it and move on.

  17. Kumar says:

Ya we crazy about just as much as Brazilians are about Football. Both these games were invented by the English. Football was played by other many other cultures all over the world but the modern derivative is from England.
Anyway us Indians have a natural flare for Cricket and it is a great game.

  18. Mr A says:

Why are Brazillians so crazy about football? Senseless question really. Why shouldn’t Indians be crazy about cricket? Why should Brazil be glamourized for its love of football and India be thought mad because it loves cricket? Makes no sense, does it? They love soccer, we love cricket; just as you love soccer and I love cricket. Simply a matter of choice, no more to it. Unfortunate that you weren’t born in Brazil!
    Cricket rules!

Our goverment has never promoted any other sport as much, what with running commentries being broadcast on national radio right from the start. Is sidelined every other game. As a result we probably dont know any other game as well to keep us interested tho I personally like football and hockey very much.

  20. karikala says:

It is easy and interesting for children to take to cricket.
1.You need just one used tennis ball to play street cricket.Bat stumps etc can be easily made out of wooden pieces.
2.The cricket scoring pattern makes it vibrant.every ball can be hit for a run or fetch a wicket.Football produces rarely a goal.
(edit)But please note they also started to excel in other sports.
1.Viswanathan Anand is the current Chess World Champion.
2.Mahesh Boopathy and Sania Mirza were runners up in Aussie open Tennis mixed doubles.
We have good teams in Hockey,Volley ball
Weight lifting, wresling,Car racing,Shooting, archery,Athletics are some of the fields they are being noticed at world level.

  21. schmicks says:

why are Americans so crazy about baseball? and btw…Indians had a game similar to cricket before the English came…and why not be crazy about an entertaining game?

  22. Really Cricket and Weight-lifting are the only two sports in which India really seems to excel (near the top in the world). Yes you’re good at hockey but only amongst the top few.
Every country needs an outlet like that. It’s just Australia has so much in the way of sporting success (cricket, league, union, swimming, athletics, shooting, netball, hockey, soccer … the list is endless) and sports infrastructure and so many other things to do in Summer, that cricket is only “of interest”. We love it but it doesn’t rule our lives.

  23. o+ve says:

Its players like Sachin, Gavaskar and Ganguly and Dravid who created interest in the mind of Indians. Indian team is not performing such well in any other sports.

  24. miley says:

bcoz cricket is a cool game and everyone likes it:)
