The policy of reservation at its present state is nothing but the vote bank policies of both the rilling and opposition parties. Reservation was required at the initial stage after attaining Independence, with a view to uplift the condition of the so called lower casts. Constitutional provision was made rightly. But year after year a person by virtue of his birth in the so called lower cast would get the benefit all stages is not acceptable. The motto of constitutional provision of reservation was financial and educational backwardness. But now in practice a s SC/ST
person by virtue of reservation enjoys preference in appointment then again in the case of departmental promotion. After he becomes corrupt even, his son will enjoy similar preference. This is nothing but the ‘Rape of the spirit of Constitution’. For reservation, financial backwardness should only be the criteria and not the cast. In Bengali.
we say the S.C people the “Sonar Chand” (means a golden moon”
and S.T as “Sonar Tukro” means a piece of gold. The are the bank balance of our political parties, The party or parties having more amount of such balance in their vote bank, more they nearer to the power.
